deep in the heart of Texas QAL

Texas pride runs deep where I'm from. So the opportunity to be a part of the Texas QAL sounded too good to pass up.

What's a QAL? (I had to ask that myself!) It's a quilt to make as you "follow along" a series of posts from bloggers and quilt shops from the Great State of Texas. But hold your horses... you'll get more than just quilt instructions! Each blogger will feature fun stuff to do in their part of the state, lists the best quilt shops in the area... even if you're not interested in making a Texas quilt, you'll want to follow along because there will also be lots of giveaways from great sponsors like Moda and Aurifil!

Oh, you're not interested in Texas? That's okay. In the words of the Texas great Lyle Lovett

"That's right. You're not from Texas.

But Texas wants you anyway!"

The fun begins on June 2. Here's a list of participants and the schedule.
June 2 - Dallas - Ashley at Urban Spools
June 5 - Tyler - Colleen guest blogger at Pretty Little Quilts
June 12 - Fort Worth - Lindsey and Jodie at Fort Worth Fabric Studio

Below is a example of the Texas quilt we will be making - EXCEPT ours will feature custom, artsy blocks from the major regions of Texas.

Melissa at My Fabric Relish is the QAL HQ and she explains the whole deal. Basically, the QAL will include printable instructions to make a variation of the whole quilt --- and each week you will get  printable instructions to make custom blocks from each blogger. I will represent Houston.

These fabulous sponsors will be providing goodies for some of the giveaways!

    1. Lisa: thanks for your comments. It will be fun to try to capture such a dynamic city in a small quilt block! Check back in a month or so.
